Rafter E Productions
Rafter E Productions began in 2011 as a husband-and-wife barrel racing production team. I am a high school English teacher almost at the retirement finish line, and Sam is a full-time farrier. We strive to keep our races economically friendly, family-oriented, and simplistic for the contestants.
Our barrel racing formats range from Open 3D to 5D, and we are implementing and testing a 6D design this year. In 2022 we added novice horse classes ranging from seasoning horses with zero-dollar lifetime earnings to a $2500 graduated class. In addition, our races offer youth, adult, and senior age incentives side pots. Each year we look forward to hosting our year-end finals, “The Challenge of Champions,” at the JLK Events Center in Llano, Tx, and the Novice Horse Finals in November at the Lee County Sherif’s Posse Arena in Gidding, Tx.
The youth are an essential part of our barrel racing productions as we recognize them as the future of barrel racing. Therefore, we offer the ROTH class, Racers on the Horizon, as a 9&under beginner rider class.
I can not remember life without a horse! I spent most of my years as a team roper and began running barrels full-time in 2014, which eventually drove me to become the Texas Senior Pro Rodeo barrel racing director for two years. My greatest accomplishment as a team roper was winning the WPRA Women’s title of World Champion Header in 2009 with Tibba Smith as my healer. My husband also teamed roped as a header, with one of his most significant accomplishments coming as his second-place win in the Reno Rodeo Invitational and first place at the Windy Ryan Team Roping in Saginaw, Tx.
